Short Course for Tribal Women on “Social and Political Challenges in FATA and Women”
KHOR believe that empowering women means confident, self-aware, and passionate individual, thus we train and educate tribal women to protect their social, political and economic rights while being their best selves and informed of changes happening around them. Hence, three days short course was commenced from 15 February to 17 February 2018 to equip Qabailee Khor Representatives on FATA’s social structures, governance system and proposed reforms to prepare tribal women leader and train them for future challenges.
Thus, KHOR organization has arranged a short course for Pakhtun Women in Peshawar on “Social and Political Challenges in North West” at Peshawar. The workshop offered three days short course comprising teaching and research endeavors for the participants. The main purpose of the course was to educate and prepare them to deal with the technical issues after extension of judicial and political institutions to Pakhtun regions.
This short course covered the following important topics:
1. Human rights and women rights was discussed and presented by Ms. Mona Aurangzeb Naseer, she is a founding member of KHOR and has degree in Human Rights from London University, UK.
2. Gender theories lecture was delivered by Dr. Anoosh Wisal Khan, she is a chairperson of Gender Studies in Peshawar University and has PhD from American University, Washington DC, US.
3. North West history, demography, society & culture, language, literature & art was discussed by Dr. Noreen Naseer, she is a founding member of KHOR.
4. Administrative and governance structures of peripheral areas was discussed by Dr. Ayub Jan, he is an Assistant Professor at Political Science Department, University of Peshawar and has a PhD from University of York, UK.
5. Present Legal and judicial arrangement of Periphery was discussed by Advocate Mohsin Dawar, he is a graduate of law and president of National Youth Organisation.
6. Proposed Reforms and its implications for pakhtun women was delivered by Mr. Said Afzal, he is a graduate of Political Science and has a diploma in Governance and Leadership Michigan University.
7. Extension of Peshawar High Court and women legal rights was discussed by Dr. Sami Raza, he has a PhD from Hawaii University, US.
8. Electoral structures and Pakhtun women were discussed by Dr. Shahida Aman, she is an Assistant Professor in Political Science Department and running a research project on FATA sponsored by UNDP .
